Restorative justice
If you've been affected by an offence, restorative justice provides opportunities for you to communicate through a face to face meeting. It's also an opportunity to comment indirectly on the Youth Offending Service (YOS) process with the young offender.
If you've been a victim of youth crime, you should be asked by the Police whether you consent to the YOS offering you the chance to take part in the restorative process. If this does not happen, contact the Police Officer dealing with the offence and ask them to pass on your details to the YOS.
Stockport YOS has dedicated victim workers seconded from Remedi. They'll also contact you if you've been a victim of crime to:
- offer you the opportunity to participate in restorative justice
- keep you informed about the young person's progress
