Objecting to us using your personal information

You have the right to ask us to stop using your information for:

  • public task: for tasks carried out in the public interest
  • public task: for the exercise of our official authority
  • our legitimate interests
  • direct marketing
  • research or statistics

Public task or legitimate interests

You have the right to object if we're using your data for public task or legitimate interest reasons. You need to give specific reasons as to why you're objecting to this use.

This is not an absolute right, and we can refuse to comply if:

  • we can demonstrate we have legitimate grounds for processing your personal data which overrides your objection
  • the processing is for establishing or defending a legal claim

Direct marketing

We sometimes use your personal information, such as an email or postal address, to send you information about events or services we think you may be interested in.

We send you this form of marketing because you have consented for us to do this when you first got in contact. However, you have a right to object to us sending you this at any time.

Research or statistics

Occasionally, we may use your personal data for scientific or historical research, or for statistical purposes. If we do this, we'll put safeguards in place to protect your information, such as pseudonymisation (using the information in a way that it cannot be identified without additional information) or minimisation.

You can object to us doing this if you have reasons why we should not, and we will stop processing your information unless we're doing it for reasons of public interest.
