9. Data portability

In certain circumstances, you have the right to request that the personal information you have given to us be changed so that so that it can be sent to another organisation. It must be:

  • structured
  • commonly used and
  • machine-readable

This makes it easier for you to switch from one supplier to another.

Most of the processing activities undertaken by us are governed by statute or as a result of legal obligations imposed on us.

This right is only available to information:

  • that has been collected based on your consent or for a contract and
  • where the processing is carried out by automated means

Please return your form along with any additional information and copies of your evidence to our Data Protection Officer (DPO) by emailing us at dpa.officer@stockport.gov.uk or by post to the address below:

If you make a request for the your personal information to be made ready for portability, we will assess your request and let you know our decision. If you're not happy with our response you have a right to complain to the Information Commissioner.
