Correcting your personal information

We want to make sure that the information we hold about you is correct and that we have not missed anything out.

You can ask us to:

  • correct any information about you which is wrong
  • update the information we hold if it is incomplete

Updating inaccurate information about you

Once we have received your request, we'll take steps to ensure the new data is accurate. If we agree that the personal information you have identified is factually inaccurate, we'll correct it.

Who we will tell about the changes

If we agree to make changes and share your information with anyone else, we'll also make them aware so they can update the information they hold about you.

If we do not agree that the information is wrong

If we do not agree with your view that the information we hold about you is factually wrong, we'll explain the reason for our decision.

If you're not happy with this, we'll give you details about your right to complain to the Information Commissioner.

If you think the personal information we hold about you is incomplete and we do not agree with this, we may give you the opportunity to add a supplementary statement to explain why you think the information we hold is incomplete.

Return your completed form along with any additional information and copies of your evidence to our Data Protection Officer (DPO). You can do this by either:

  • emailing it to dpa.officer@stockport.gov.uk

  • posting it to the following address:
