The wrapping paper scrunch test

If you can scrunch the wrapping paper into a ball it's paper. If it's plastic or foil it’ll bounce back and it cannot be recycled.

Things that can go in:

  • newspapers
  • magazines
  • junk mail
  • catalogues
  • envelopes
  • shredded paper
  • wrapping paper
  • all types of cardboard
  • telephone directories including yellow pages
  • greeting cards
  • cardboard milk, juice and drink cartons
  • books

Things that can't go in:

  • plastic or foil wrapping paper
  • cards or wrapping paper with glitter

If you have something to throw away that's not on this list, visit Recycle for Greater Manchester for more information.
