Understanding and acceptance

We want our autistic community to feel included, equal, and belong. To achieve this, we aim to help the community to develop a greater understanding and acceptance of autism and make reasonable adjustments.

What we're going to do

  • we will signpost our autistic community to local sources of support to reduce feelings of isolation and helplessness
  • we will to co-produce and deliver a tiered training programme to:
    • support local businesses to gain a greater understanding of autism
    • support employers to understand their autistic employee’s individual needs
    • support services to be more understanding and accessible to autistic individuals

What will good look like?

  • see a real change on the ground and in everyday lived experience of autistic people who are trying to engage with local services and overcome isolation
  • a centralised platform to signpost autistic people to services that provide meaningful support
  • ongoing engagement sessions and co-production to ensure communication and updates are shared effectively and in a sensitive manner
