Health
We want to make healthcare appointments more accessible for our autistic community. We also want autistic people to be able to access a high quality and timely diagnosis and access pre-diagnostic and post-diagnostic support.
What we're going to do
- explore the roll out of a health passport and flagging autism in medical records
- roll out the Oliver McGowan training to Health care professionals
- review the current assessment paperwork and waiting list communication
- introduce a neurodevelopmental pathway with a needs-led approach
- signpost autistic individuals and their families to available support
What will good look like?
- health passports and digital flags to be in operation
- a centralised platform to signpost autistic individual and their families to services that provide meaningful support
- feedback from our autistic community that they have increased access to healthcare appointments due to reasonable adjustments being put in place by healthcare professionals
- improved communication to those on an assessment waiting lists regarding timescales
- post-diagnostic workshops for autistic adult’s running locally, co-delivered by an autistic adult
