Criminal justice system
We want to improve access to support for autistic individuals who have or may come into contact with the criminal justice system and increase the understanding of autistic people’s individual needs.
What we're going to do
- outline the support available for autistic people if they become involved with the criminal justice system
- signpost staff within the Criminal justice system to training to understand the needs of our autistic community and what reasonable adjustments are required to support them
What will good look like?
- a centralised platform to signpost autistic individuals and their families to services that provide meaningful support and guidance, including information on advocacy services and knowing your rights
- criminal justice system staff having a greater understanding of autistic people’s individual needs and how to make reasonable adjustments to support them
