Churches and religious buildings
If your ceremony is taking place in any religious building other than the Church of England or Church in Wales, you're still both required to give notice of intention.
The church or religious building must normally be situated in the district where you or your partner live, unless either of you usually worship in that building.
Your ceremony can take place in another district if there is no building of your religion in the district where you or your partner live.
After your ceremony, you'll need to make an application for any copy certificates you require. You can learn more on our copy certificate pages.
