Wasps

1. Overview

Although 11 species of true wasp are found in Europe only two, the Common Wasp (Vespula vulgaris) and the German Wasp (Vespula Germanica) are important as pest species.

Wasps are much less hairy than bees. They are yellow and black in colour. Their colours are due to their actual body colour, unlike bees whose colours are due to their hair.
