1. Overview
You can find the Heritage Library on the ground floor of Stockport Central Library and explore photographs, maps, books, newspaper cuttings, ephemera, and archives. Find out more about the resources at the library.
The library collects and preserves material that relates to the history of Stockport. This includes records relating to the former Urban District Councils of Reddish and Heaton Norris, Bredbury and Romiley, Cheadle and Gatley, Hazel Grove and Bramhall and Marple.
The Local Heritage Library is a great place to visit for help and advice if you are:
- interested in discovering how Stockport evolved or the history of the place where you live
- curious about the history of a building, business or locality
- researching your family tree
- wanting to trace famous people who have lived in the area
