Winter's: 27 to 35 Little Underbank
The building was originally Winter’s Jewellers, opened in 1890 by Jacob Winter. It eventually became a pub, managed by Manchester brewery Joseph Holt. The pub closed in 2018.
We reopened the building after its restoration in Spring 2022.
Restoration of the original clock
The original clock is still on the building, and features a soldier, a sailor and Father Time. The clock was manufactured by the Sainsbury Brothers who were established in 1734 in Walthamstow.
As part of the Townscape Heritage project, specialists from The Cumbria Clock Company lovingly restored the original clock. This process involved dismantling the clock so that they could clean and repair all of its parts. They also refurbished the clock’s three figures, repainting them in their original colours.
