13 Little Underbank

13 Little Underbank was built in 1830. It was originally a distillery, which is why it shares a cellar with the Queen’s Head pub at 12 Little Underbank.

We restored and reopened the building in June 2021.

The restoration work involved:

  • measuring the shopfront’s arches using a 3D laser scan so that we could fill them in with new windows
  • restoring the building’s stone façade using a mixture of machine detailing and hand sculpting
  • installing a new flat roof and parapet, opening up future opportunities to use the roof space
  • replacing windows and frames to be more energy efficient whilst retaining their authentic look
  • refurbishing the stairwell and installing heritage-style LED lanterns
  • replacing rainwater pipes to prevent future damage and maintain the aesthetic
  • repointing the brickwork
  • carefully restoring the original floorboards
