13 Little Underbank
13 Little Underbank was built in 1830. It was originally a distillery, which is why it shares a cellar with the Queen’s Head pub at 12 Little Underbank.
We restored and reopened the building in June 2021.
The restoration work involved:
- measuring the shopfront’s arches using a 3D laser scan so that we could fill them in with new windows
- restoring the building’s stone façade using a mixture of machine detailing and hand sculpting
- installing a new flat roof and parapet, opening up future opportunities to use the roof space
- replacing windows and frames to be more energy efficient whilst retaining their authentic look
- refurbishing the stairwell and installing heritage-style LED lanterns
- replacing rainwater pipes to prevent future damage and maintain the aesthetic
- repointing the brickwork
- carefully restoring the original floorboards
