Due to coronavirus, we're anticipating that more children than usual will use school transport and there may not be enough room on some services for everyone that needs to use it. If you're aware of any issues with dedicated school bus services, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org. For all other enquiries regarding travel to schools, email email@example.com.
Travelling to school
4. Sustainable school travel strategy
Local Authorities are required to promote the use of sustainable modes of travel and transport. They're also required to publish a sustainable school travel strategy. You can find more information in the sustainable school travel strategy (PDF 297Kb).
The strategy sets out what's been achieved to encourage more children and young people to use sustainable modes of travel to school. Modes such as walking, cycling or public transport and also the extended right to free transport to pupils from low income backgrounds.
The document also sets out what work will be undertaken in the years to follow. This will be in order to meet the requirements of the Department for Education – home-to-school travel and transport statutory guidance.
