Project information

The Town Centre Access Plan (TCAP) has brought a number of benefits for Stockport. These include improved access to and around the town centre, the M60, the rail station and key sites within the town centre. It has also improved access to the town centre from surrounding residential areas, making it easier for people to access shops, services and leisure facilities whether cycling, on foot or as a motorist.

Importantly, as well as improving access, investment has helped to reduce the impact of traffic congestion. It has also improved the efficiency and reliability of the highway network, bringing significant benefits for businesses, residents and visitors alike.

TCAP has been a vital component of the investment work underway in Stockport and is central to our ambitious plans for the redevelopment of the town centre.

£1 billion investment is currently underway in Stockport. Projects include:

  • Redrock
  • Stockport Exchange
  • Stockport Interchange
  • Merseyway
  • the Market Place and Underbanks
