Taxi driver knowledge tests
You'll need to take the knowledge test relevant to the taxi driver's licence you're applying for. There are different questions for Hackney, private hire, executive hire and assisted hire. If you apply for more than one type of licence, you'll need to take the test for each licence.
If your badge has expired for longer than 12 months, you may need to re-take the test to show you have the knowledge to drive a licensed vehicle.
Knowledge test questions are reviewed regularly reflecting changes to legislation, conditions and policies.

Collections
The final collection service of 2025 will be Wednesday 24 December, from 9am to midday.
The next collection service after that will be Wednesday 7 January 2026.
Collections will be available at no other times, so make sure all applications are submitted in advance.
