Bird flu warning
Bird flu has been found in swans and geese at Reddish Vale and Etherow Country Park. For your safety:
- keep to footpaths
- keep dogs on leads
- do not pick up or touch dead or sick wild birds
- avoid touching wild bird feathers or surfaces with bird droppings on them
If you keep poultry or other birds, wash your hands and disinfect footwear before tending to your birds. Find out more about what you must do if you keep birds on our animal welfare pages.
If you find any dead wild birds, you can:
- report this online at GOV.UK
- call the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) on 03459 33 55 77
Falling trees warning
You may have noticed that many of our ash trees are looking sick, have died or have been felled. This is due to a fungus which kills 85 to 90% of all ash trees it infects.
For your safety:
- keep to the main paths
- be careful of falling trees and branches, especially during high winds and bad weather
