Covid-secure access to book borrowing and IT slots

We have continued to provide a digital library service throughout lockdown, with online events and e-books and magazines all available free of charge.

As we learn to live with covid, we want to once again enable our customers to have access to book borrowing and IT. As we reintroduce these services, safety is our number one consideration

From Monday 13 July, a limited covid-secure book borrowing and IT provision will be offered at:

  • Hazel Grove
  • the Heatons
  • Marple
  • Reddish

This will consist of an order and collect book service and bookable IT slots.

We will be listening to customers and seeking customer feedback from these four sites over the first few weeks of operation so that we can refine and improve what is on offer – with a view to extending the offer to more locations later in July and August.

When customers return to one of or four libraries, they can expect some changes. Some of these include:

  • An "order and collect" book loan offer
  • Changes to book returns (where books will then need to be quarantined for 72 hours before being available to another user)
  • Bookable IT slots

More detail on all of these as well as details on opening hours, will added to our website soon.

In addition the existing online offer remains and the team will be looking to enhance this over the coming months.

Our home library service will be available from Monday 6 July for those residents who are housebound – for more details click here
