The foster carers’ charter represents a commitment on behalf of Stockport Council in its role as the corporate parent, the fostering service, and the foster carer to work in partnership in the best interests of the children for whom they care.
It's a promise, owned by everybody involved, to strive for best practice at all times.
The charter explains what we can expect from each other. It sits alongside the foster care agreement, which covers responsibilities, requirements and expectations between the corporate parent, the fostering service and the individual foster carer.
The charter covers:
- working in partnership
- respect for the child
- fair treatment
- sharing information
- clarity about decisions
- communications and consultation
- support
- learning and development
