Moat House is Stockport’s educational provision for pregnant schoolgirls and schoolgirl mothers.
It is situated in Heaton Norris, and admits pupils from the secondary schools within Stockport Local Authority. Pupils can be referred to Moat House by their school or a health professional. They can also refer themselves, at any stage of their pregnancy.
Moat House provides an appropriate learning placement. It offers a broad and balanced curriculum to meet the needs of the pupils at the Unit.
Pupils are successfully able to study for and take accredited examinations, including GCSEs, across a wide range of subjects. Pupils can attend Moat House up until the end of Year 11.
There is a crèche on site that looks after the pupils’ babies whilst they attend lessons. It's staffed by well-qualified and experienced nursery nurses.
Good relationships are developed with the parents and Moat House staff. There is an open door policy where parents are encouraged to telephone and/or visit as necessary.
