Moat House is an educational provision for pregnant schoolgirls and schoolgirl mothers situated in Heaton Norris. Students are admitted from secondary schools within the Stockport Local Authority.
Students who attend Moat House are between 14-19 years old, are beyond 12 weeks of pregnancy or have a baby already. They can be referred to Moat House by their school, a health professional, or they can refer themselves at any stage of their pregnancy.
Moat House provides an appropriate learning placement with a broad and balanced curriculum to meet the needs of the students at the unit. Students are successfully able to study for and take accredited examinations, including GCSEs, across a wide range of subjects.
There is a crèche on site that looks after the students’ babies whilst they attend lessons. It's staffed by well-qualified and experienced nursery nurses.
Good relationships are developed with the parents and Moat House staff. There is an open door policy where parents are encouraged to telephone and/or visit as necessary.
