Technology Enabled Care (TEC) is the use of technology and equipment to support people to achieve their health and social care outcomes.
The aim is to use technology to support people's wellbeing and dignity, and to help them to live independently in the place they call home.
About the strategy
Technology is now a significant part of everyday life and continues to evolve, offering many solutions that support people to live safely and independently.
We aim to use digital solutions and data insights to support us in delivering personalised, cost-effective care and support.
The outcomes we want to achieve through TEC are to:
- promote independence
- provide care that meets the needs of the individual
- improve the quality of care
- reduce admission to care homes and hospital
- support discharge when admission to hospital is necessary
To achieve our vision, we must work in partnership to deliver sustainable, measurable benefits, with the outcomes of the person being prioritised.
Throughout the lifetime of this strategy, we'll embed TEC within our Care Act Assessment process, making it a key method for helping individuals achieve their outcomes and meet care and support needs across health, care, and housing.
Our priorities
Our priorities will enable us to move from a reactive model of TEC to a more proactive model. This means supporting self-help, early help and prevention, and most importantly enabling people’s independence.
