How much will I pay?
The fare you pay for a journey depends on whether you travel in a hackney carriage or private hire car and where you plan to go.
Hackney carriage
We're responsible for setting the fares that hackney carriages charge for journeys within the borough.
All hackney carriages have a meter fitted. They should also display a fare card showing how fares are calculated.
Journeys outside the borough are not regulated by us. If the driver agrees to a journey outside the borough you should agree your fare before the journey starts. The driver must leave the taxi meter running throughout the journey.
Private hire cars
We're not responsible for setting the fares that private hire operators charge. Check with the operator when you book your journey.
