Know the differences between a hackney carriage and private hire vehicle in Stockport.

A hackney carriage

  • can be flagged down on the street, at an authorised taxi rank or pre-booked through a licensed private hire operator
  • must be wheelchair accessible
  • can be licensed to carry up to a maximum of 8 passengers
