Support with dual sensory loss

Our dual sensory service includes:

  • a specialist assessment of dual sensory needs under section 7 of the deafblind guidance
  • a demonstration, and the provision of specialist equipment for combined sight and hearing loss
  • training and advice about communication for people with dual sensory loss. For example; use of the deafblind manual, Spartan block
  • training and advice about safe indoor and outdoor mobility for people with dual sensory loss
  • training and advice about accessing information for people with dual sensory loss
  • maintaining a register of Stockport residents with dual sensory loss

We have range of equipment on offer to help you with everyday living and to maintain your independence.

Some equipment and services may be provided if needs are identified following an assessment from one of our Equipment and Adaptations Officers or a Rehabilitation Officer.

Buying your own equipment

If you'd like to buy your own equipment, there are many experienced mobility retailers who can offer advice and support about the equipment that will best suit your needs.

Walthew House also offer a large range of items not available through our service. For example; large button telephones and kitchen aids.
