Support for young carers

Are you a child or young adult who spends time looking after or helping a member of your family, or close friend? The help you provide may include:

  • shopping
  • making meals
  • doing the laundry
  • nursing care. For example; giving medication, helping someone up and down stairs
  • being with someone when they need company

Signpost Young Carers may be able to help you. They work with young carers aged 6 to 25 years old in Stockport. They offer:

  • one-to-one counselling
  • information and advice for carers, their parents and family members
  • weekends away
  • evening groups
  • fun trips
  • advice on housing benefits
  • help with problems at school or college
  • help with talking to and contacting Adult Social Care

You'll also be able to meet with other young carers of your own age and in similar circumstances.
