Fostering outreach service

The fostering outreach service is a team of specialist workers. They provide support to all approved foster carers in the borough. They work alongside carers to build on their skills and expertise to prevent placement breakdown.

The range of support provided by the outreach service is individual to the carer and child. It could be anything from telephone conversations with the carer to planned activities such as cinema trips with the fostered child. This type of support helps the family to stay together. It also encourages a good relationship between the carers and the foster child.

The help provided by the fostering outreach service can include

  • helping to build relationships
  • developing self-esteem
  • improving resilience
  • building confidence

Outreach workers provide support between the hours of 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday. Weekend support is 9am to 5pm by prior agreement. At all other times support is provided by the Out of Hours Service on 0161 718 2118.
