Summer Reading Challenge 2018
We’re celebrating the 80th anniversary of the much loved comic, Beano with this year’s Summer Reading Challenge Mischief Makers. Help Dennis, Gnasher and friends explore Beanotown to find the mysterious buried treasure – with tons of fun along the way.
Everyone aged 4 to 11 can sign up to take part in Mischief Makers at Stockport libraries during the summer holidays. It’s fun, friendly and absolutely free. All you have to do is read 6 books of your choice and collect stickers and prizes along the way.
The challenge starts on Saturday 21 July and runs through until Saturday 8 September.
When you sign up you'll receive your Beanotown treasure map and a bookmark. For every two books you read you'll collect stickers and prizes including; colour in glasses, fortune teller or door hanger. Ultimately when you have read all 6 books you'll receive your Mischief Makers medal and certificate with your name on in the library.
All 16 libraries in Stockport are participating in this national initiative by hosting a Mischief Makers event over the summer holidays. Visit our libraries page to find out where your nearest library is.
There are prize draws at all our libraries for everyone that has read 6 books for a chance to win books and family tickets to Stockport Children’s Book Awards Ceremony.
Ask at your library or visit our what's on listing to see what's happening at your local library over the summer holidays.

Inter school challenge
Stockport Libraries will also be running the inter school competition again this year, with trophies for the school with the highest percentage of children completing the challenge in each library area. The Stockport Summer Reading Challenge Cup will be awarded to the school who has the highest percentage of children complete in the challenge. Last year the Summer Reading Challenge Cup was won by St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Marple Bridge.
