2. Postal address for new development
To apply for street naming and numbering allocation, please send your request to building control by emailing email@example.com. Please include a location plan with the property(s) concerned highlighted in red. For large developments, site plans are also required.
If the new development forms a new road we welcome your own suggestions. We'll need to check if the suggested road names are appropriate after considering existing addresses in Stockport.
The proposed street naming and numbering details will then be sent to the Royal Mail Address Management Centre for postal address allocation.
The developer will receive written confirmation of the naming and numbering and the correct postal address for the site.
This council will notify organisations (i.e. emergency services, utility companies, land registry, Ordnance Survey) of the new development. It is the responsibility of the developer for the initial provision of street nameplates for the site.
