Take time out to learn new business skills and meet other new start businesses through business start-up workshops and events. Talking about your business idea and understanding common issues for new business start-ups can be invaluable in helping to plan and grow your new business.

Big Ideas Generator

The Big Ideas Generators project is led by the Greater Manchester Library service and aims to support potential new business start-ups as they look to turn their business ideas into reality.

Events are being held across Greater Manchester, including Stockport, until March 2018, and are free to for anyone looking to start a business. For event details please visit our business events pages.

Big Ideas events include:

  • "how to" sessions
  • workshops and networking opportunities

Social Enterprise support

Social enterprises are businesses established to meet a social need and are often referred to as Not for Profit. “Stockport with Purpose” is a programme funded jointly by Equity Foundation and Stockport Council to assist new social businesses in finding ways to generate income and identify new solutions to social problems. The programme is currently available until March 2018.
