Take time out to learn new business skills and meet other new start businesses through business start-up workshops and events. Talking about business ideas and common issues for business start-ups can be invaluable in helping to plan and grow your business.

Start Smart

The Business Growth Hub has launched its new Start Smart programme It's designed to support local residents who want to find out if self-employment is right for them.

From initial idea to starting your own business, support is available through locally delivered workshops, events and one-to-one specialist advice. All residents of Stockport are eligible, and support is also available for those that have recently started their business.

Social Enterprise support

Social enterprises are businesses established to meet a social need and are often referred to as Not for Profit. “Stockport with Purpose” is a programme funded jointly by Stockport Council and Equity Foundation. It aims to assist new social businesses in finding ways to generate income and identify new solutions to social problems.
