Do not use this form to report:

  • collapsed roads or pavements
  • missing grids or manhole covers

You can use this form to tell us about:

  • potholes
  • broken or missing flags
  • uneven or damaged surfaces
  • tree root damage
  • an obstruction in the road or pavement
  • damaged grids, manhole covers or fire hydrant covers

Examples of things you can report


Potholes and road damage

We'll only repair road surface damage that's at least 40mm deep.

We'll only repair pavement surface damage that's at least a 25mm difference in level.

You can report broken or missing flags, or tree root damage.

You can report obstructions such as builders' materials in the road or on the pavement.

Note: you can not use this form to report obstructions caused by vehicles.

Damaged grids, manhole covers and fire hydrant covers

You can report damage to grids, manhole covers or fire hydrant covers.

Things you can not use this form to report


Vegetation or trees

If vegetation or trees are causing an obstruction, you can use our form to report a problem with trees or vegetation.

Damage to the motorway

To report damage to the motorway (either the main carriageway or slip roads), contact National Highways.

Obstructions caused by vehicles

Where there are no yellow lines and the vehicle is causing an obstruction, the responsibility for enforcement is with Greater Manchester Police.

If a vehicle is parked in an area with yellow lines and is causing an obstruction, you can use our online form to request a parking enforcement.

Utility covers or cabinets

You should report damage to utility covers or cabinets on the road or pavement to the responsible company as soon as possible.

Road damage less than 40mm

Before using the form below, please check the size of the damaged area. If the pothole is less than 40mm deep, we will not repair the damage.

We'll continue to monitor the condition of the route as part of our routine safety inspections and will take action where appropriate.

Note: for your safety, be careful when checking damage in the road. Please estimate the size of the damaged area rather than trying to measure it precisely, and always be aware of oncoming traffic.

Pavement damage less than 25mm

Before using the form below, please check the size of the damaged area. If the pavement damage is less than a 25mm difference in level, we will not repair the damage.

We'll continue to monitor the condition of the route as part of our routine safety inspections and will take action where appropriate.
