Apply for a Discretionary Payment

You can use this form to apply for a Discretionary Payment for help with rent and/or Council Tax.

Before you start

You’ll need to have:

  • your National Insurance number
  • details of all your household income and expenses
  • details of any savings
  • details of your bank account, if applying for help with your rent
  • your Council Tax account number, if applying for help with your Council Tax

Supporting evidence you must provide

Council Tax only

  • last two months' bank statements for all bank and savings accounts you have

Rent

  • last two months' bank statements for all bank and savings accounts you have
  • proof of any rent arrears (unless you rent from Stockport Homes)
  • proof of your rent (unless you rent from Stockport Homes). This should show your current rent charge and any services included
  • if you have claimed or get Universal Credit you must also provide your award letter

Documents can be handed in at Fred Perry reception or any of our Information and Advice Centres.

If you do not provide the required documents within two weeks of submitting your form, we'll be unable to work out your award and your application will be refused.
