You can use this form to:
- set up a Direct Debit to pay your Council Tax each month
- change your Bank or Building Society account details
- change your Direct Debit payment date
We do not accept third party Direct Debit details. If you're not named as a liable person for the Council Tax account, we cannot accept payment by Direct Debit. You'll need to use an alternative method. For example; standing order.
We only collect payments on the 1st, 15th and 25th of the month.
Change your Direct Debit date
Do not change your Direct Debit (DD) date within 7 days of your existing payment date. Please allow 21 days before the date your account would usually be debited for these changes to be made.
The table gives examples of timings and how they could affect your payments and payment dates.
DD payment date you've requested | Deadline to set up or change your DD payment to the requested date | Example dates your request was submitted to us | Date your new DD payments will start |
---|---|---|---|
1st | 10th of the month | 10th June | 1st July |
15th | 24th of the month | 5th May | 15th June |
25th | 4th of the month | 5th April | 25th May |
You must continue to pay your Council Tax bill while you're waiting for any changes to be made. When your request has been agreed, we'll send you a new Council Tax bill confirming your Direct Debit payments.
The Direct Debit will cover the current financial year only. If you have any balances outstanding for previous financial years, you should continue to pay those as previously advised, or contact the Council Tax team to make an arrangement.
Before you start
You'll need your:
- Council Tax reference number. You can find this on your Council Tax bill. It's 10 characters long and starts with '50'
- bank / building society account details
If you've received a summons for non-payment of Council Tax, any new or amended Direct Debit instructions will not take effect until after the court hearing date, as detailed on your letter.
