Book an appointment to register a birth
You can make an appointment to register a birth by using the online form below. You'll be shown a calendar of dates and you can select the date that is convenient to you. If no appointments are shown as available on the date you have chosen, please choose another date.
Before you start
If the baby was not born in Stockport, you will be asked if you would like to make a declaration to give information relating to the birth. If you choose to make a declaration, you will need to bring a cheque book to the appointment with you. This is to make a payment to the register office in the district where the baby was born.
At your appointment you will need to provide the:
- date and place of birth of the child
- child’s forename(s) and surname
- mother’s name and surname, place of birth, current or last occupation, maiden surname and date of marriage, if applicable
- father's name and surname, place of birth, current or last occupation
To help ensure the accuracy of the information recorded you should bring supporting documentation with you. This could be a passport, driving licence, utility bill, birth and marriage certificates.
Do not worry if any of these documents are not available as the registrar can still proceed to register the birth.Start now
