You can use this form to book an appointment to give notice of intention to marry if all of the following apply:
- both of you are over 18 years old
- both of you are British, Irish or European Economic Area (EEA) nationals with pre-settled status or a pending application for settled status
- at least one of you lives in Stockport
- you know where your marriage will take place and it will be in England or Wales
- your marriage ceremony is between 29 days and one year from your appointment date
- you've lived at your current address for 7 consecutive clear days immediately before your appointment date, not including your appointment date or the date you arrived at the address
If you both live in Stockport, it's recommended that you both attend the same appointment to give notice. If one of you lives outside of Stockport, you'll each need to give notice in the district where you live.
If either partner has been divorced or their civil partnership has dissolved outside of the British Isles, you'll need to pay additional fees for the consideration of these documents.
If you're not a British, Irish or EEA national and you'd like to give notice, call us on 0161 217 6007.
Before you start
You'll need:
- the name of the venue where the marriage will take place
- the full names and nationalities of the people who are getting married
You'll need to pay a fee to give notice, which is £46.50 per person, or £63 per person if you're referred to the Home Office as a couple under the referral and investigation scheme.
You can pay with a credit or debit card. We do not accept American Express.
