This session is suitable for key stage 1.
In this exciting session, your class will retell the story of the Great Fire of London within the 17th century rooms at Staircase House. They can dress up and get involved in role-play while finding out where, when and why the fire broke out. They'll explore what Samuel Pepys wrote about the fire and find out what an eye witness is. There'll also be a chance to take part in some hands-on activities.
When you book your trip, you'll need to choose 2 of these activities to make up your day:
- Wattle and daub: Find out about 17th century house construction and make a wattle and daub panel to take back to school
- The plague: Find out about the plague and make a ‘plague bag’ to take back to school
- Fire mark: Find out about fire marks and design one to take back to school
