Support and training
Specific training is tailored to the individual needs of the carers and young people in placement. Specialist foster carers will agree to work in partnership with the fostering service which includes a range of professionals and must attend regular meetings regarding the child or young person in their care.
Specialist foster carers will receive on-going training and development. As a specialist foster carer, you’ll join a fostering community working alongside other foster carers and professionals who meet regularly to provide peer support and advice.
The support package for specialist foster carers includes:
- 4 weeks annual leave per year

- your own allocated supervising social worker
