Overview
All children and young people are entitled to an education that enables them to:
- achieve their best
- become confident individuals
- make a successful transition into adulthood
It’s the responsibility of the school or education setting to make sure that all pupils, including those with additional or different needs, are able to receive this education.
Schools and education settings should provide high-quality teaching that’s as inclusive as possible. However, some pupils may need extra support, or different types of support. Pupils who require this extra or different support are classed as having special educational needs (SEN).
