Fostering open evenings and drop in sessions

Due to the current health situation, we've cancelled our upcoming fostering open evenings and drop-in sessions until further notice.

If you're interested in fostering, we'd like to hear from you. We can talk to you over the phone and answer your questions to help you decide if fostering is right for you.

Please get in touch by completing our enquiry form.

A care leaver's experience of fostering

See how fostering can make a difference to a young person's life.

Did you know?

  • There is no typical foster carer. We welcome people from all backgrounds, nationalities, religions, genders and ages.

  • Many of the young people in care in Stockport are teenagers who would benefit from guidance and support from foster carers.

  • We’ll provide support and training throughout your application and after you’re approved.

  • The specialist fostering scheme provides supportive placements for children and young people with complex needs.

  • You don’t need any special qualifications or experience to be a foster carer, you just need to care about the welfare of young people.

  • It's important that our foster carers come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds to reflect the diversity of the children and young people in care.
