Find out about fostering during coronavirus

If you're interested in fostering, we'd like to hear from you.

Due to the coronavirus restrictions, we will not be able to meet you in person but we can still talk to you on the phone to find out if fostering is right for you. We're also holding virtual home visits and information sessions. You may be able to apply and begin the assessment process from a distance.

You can use our online form to get in touch.

How fostering can make a difference

Fostering can make a difference to the lives of everyone involved. From the children and young people who live with foster carers, to those who come forward to care for them.

Did you know?

  • There is no typical foster carer. We welcome people from all backgrounds, nationalities, religions, genders and ages.

  • Many of the young people in care in Stockport are teenagers who would benefit from guidance and support from foster carers.

  • We’ll provide support and training throughout your application and after you’re approved.

  • The specialist fostering scheme provides supportive placements for children and young people with complex needs.

  • You don’t need any special qualifications or experience to be a foster carer, you just need to care about the welfare of young people.

  • It's important that our foster carers come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds to reflect the diversity of the children and young people in care.
