Shopmobility Stockport provides equipment to help you do your shopping or visit local facilities and attractions.
The equipment provided by Shopmobility is there for everyone, including visitors to Stockport. It includes:
- the use of wheelchairs and scooters, both manual and powered
- sighted guides for those with poor or no visibility or limited mobility
You do not need to reserve the use of wheelchairs or scooters prior to their use. However, if you do reserve them this makes sure you can be met at the train or bus station with the wheelchair or scooter if needed.
Manual wheelchairs can be hired on a daily basis, or long term, without the need to register. You'll need to provide:
- photo ID
- a council tax statement, utility bill or other ID, dated within the last 3 months and showing your name and address
Alternatively, you can provide identification and a £100 deposit.
If you need to use powered wheelchairs, scooters or sighted guides, you'll need to register to become a member. We recommend you make an appointment with us. Registration will take around 30 minutes.

Membership
One year's membership costs £15 which also gives you access to Shopmobility Manchester. There's also a hire charge of £5.
If you live outside Greater Manchester or have a temporary illness or disability, you can apply for a one day membership/hire charge of £5.
