Support offered to carers
Shared Lives carers don't go it alone.
First of all, you'll have a named Shared Lives worker who is responsible for supporting you throughout the placement.
This person will:
- visit you at least every 12 weeks
- make sure you have the skills and knowledge to meet the changing needs of the person placed with you
- offer learning and training when you need it
- review the placement at least annually, or whenever there are significant changes in the your circumstances or those of the individual
- support you to have regular breaks from your caring role
- be on hand to support you with any issues or questions you have
Additional support includes:
- bi-monthly carers' meetings
- support from other Shared Lives carers
- carer-organised social events
- support through membership of Shared Lives Plus
