Woodford Recreation Ground Drainage Works
Works on Woodford Recreation Ground, beginning on Monday, February 2, are the first of a series of projects, intended to improve the drainage on the A555.
The Phase 1 works will see the installation of additional drainage pipes to divert water currently flowing from land to the north of the A555 into the highway drainage and onto the A555/ Hall Moss Lane pump station. The water will discharge directly into the water course at Spath Brook north of the A555. In doing so, the works reduce the volume of water reaching the pump station.
The scheme also includes the introduction of detention basins in the Woodford Recreation Ground to slow the flow of water into the water course. The basins will only contain water during periods of heavy rainfall. The basins have been positioned to avoid affecting the pitches on Woodford Recreation Ground.
The footway/cycleway between Woodford Road and Hall Moss Lane will be closed for the duration of the works, which are expected to take approximately 6 months to complete. The path will be reopened at the earliest opportunity upon completion of the works.
Working hours will generally be weekday day times. However, due to the nature of the works taking place, which will include deep excavations, for safety reasons it will not be possible to open the path outside of working hours.
The site will be accessed via the southern end of Highfield Parkway, with the site compound being located in the south western corner of Woodford Recreation Ground.
Vehicles will also exit the site via Hall Moss Lane. The site compound area will be reinstated upon completion of the works. The contractor will work to keep disruption to adjacent residents to a minimum.
