Roadworks, closures and diversions
6. M60 Junction 1 (Hollywood Way)
As part of our Town Centre Access Plan project we are improving traffic flow on the M60 Junction 1 by widening Hollywood Way, creating a new lane on the approach to the motorway junction. The scheme also includes improved pedestrian and cycle facilities on Wood Street and Yew Street and the provision of new lighting and landscaping.
The works are being carried out in phases and are expected to be completed autumn 2018.
Update 24 May 2018
The works to construct a retaining wall to facilitate the widening of Hollywood Way are nearing completion as planned. The highway widening itself is scheduled to start on Saturday 2 June 2018.
To minimise disruption, the highway works will take place overnight, Monday to Friday from 8pm to 5am. Specifically those activities requiring lane closures on Hollywood Way and/or the roundabout.
Works that can be carried out safely without the need for lane closures on Hollywood Way and/or the roundabout will be undertaken Monday to Friday from 7am and 5pm.
The lane closure on Yew Street is still needed to maintain the safety of workers and the general public.
As part of the works to provide new pedestrian and cycle facilities and improve the lighting and landscaping, the new toucan (pedestrian and cyclist) crossing on Yew Street is now working and new lighting has been installed on the pedestrian / cyclist diversion route alongside the River Mersey.
