Roadworks, closures and diversions
6. M60 Junction 1 (Hollywood Way)
As part of our Town Centre Access Plan project we are improving traffic flow on the M60 Junction 1 by widening Hollywood Way, creating a new lane on the approach to the motorway junction. The scheme also includes improved pedestrian and cycle facilities on Wood Street and Yew Street and the provision of new lighting and landscaping.
The works are being carried out in phases and are expected to be completed autumn 2018. Traffic management will be in place during the works to manage traffic flow and ensure safety of operatives and road users within each phase.
The initial works are being undertaken between autumn 2017 and early 2018. It will see the construction of a new toucan (pedestrian and cyclist) crossing on Yew Street. There will also be a retaining wall to enable the widening of the highway at a later stage in the works.
Update 16th February 2018
We sincerley apologise for the delays caused by the Town Centre Access Plan works on the M60 junction 1 on the evening of 15th February.
In light of last night's problems, the temporary lane closure on Hollywood Way approach to the roundabout has been removed by the contractor, Bethells, as of approximately 6.30pm yesterday. The lane closure will be reinstated at times when plant or equipment are required to be delivered to site but this will only be off-peak.
We are currently working with the contractor to review the construction methodology for the remainder of the works to avoid future closures of the lane.
The temporary traffic lights at the Yew Street/ Hollywood junction and ban of the right turn from Yew Street to Hollywood Way will remain in place until Monday 19th February.
Updates will continue to be provided on this page.
