Ladybrook Valley

We're working with Transport for Greater Manchester to further unlock the health and environmental benefits of active travel. We're delivering a network of fully inclusive routes to make walk, wheel and cycle journeys safer and more attractive, and universally accessible for all.

Supported by the government’s Active Travel Fund (Tranche 4), our works at Ladybrook Valley involve an upgrade of the route along the river between Bramhall Park Road and Ladybridge Road for shared pedestrian and cyclist use. This is to provide a missing link in a route between Hazel Grove and Cheadle, with spurs and connections to local destinations and the wider active travel network.

Construction update: August 2026

Since March 2026 we've been progressing with the construction of a new path along the public right of way adjacent to the river between the bottom of Ramillies Avenue and Ladybridge Road, with a connection to Blenheim Road.

This first phase of works is substantially complete. We're unable to formally open these paths until installation of the Bridleway gates, the supply of which has been slightly delayed. We anticipate opening the link between Ladybridge Road and Blenheim Road in late August/early September, which we recognise to be an important local connection.

From the week starting 17 August our works will progress to between Ramillies Avenue and Bramhall Park Road, requiring the closure of this section of path. We'll continue to use the main site access and compound area at Ramillies Avenue, so the path will also need to remain closed between here and Ladybridge Road.

Our initial works along this next section will take approximately 2 months to complete. This is to complete the associated earthworks and foundation for the path. This will then be used as a haul road for construction of a ramp at Bramhall Park Road. Following construction of the ramp, the path will have its final surface applied.

All works are being carefully planned and co-ordinated to manage disruption as much as possible, and we continue to re-open paths wherever possible and safe to do so.

The path closures in place are so the works can be carried out safely and efficiently. At times there will be no public access to the fields. Please respect the barriers in place. Diversion routes will be clearly signed.
