8. Carriageway works (HIP)

As part of our Highways Investment Programme (HIP) we have committed to invest £100m. This is to improve roads and footpaths across the borough over a nine year delivery period. This funding will be used to carry out a range of repairs from patching to resurfacing in targeted areas. This will provide a long term solution to the deterioration on the highway network.

Alexandra Road, Heaton Moor

We're proposing to carry out resurfacing of the carriageway on Alexandra Road from Green Lane to Ashburn Road. The work is scheduled to start on 8th December and expected to take around 1 week to complete. Working hours are between 8am and 5pm, weather permitting.

To minimise disruption and allow safe working operations to take place it will be necessary to restrict traffic. This will be done by closing the road during working hours with signed diversions in operation.

Hillcrest Road, Offerton

We're proposing to carry out resurfacing of the carriageway on Hillcrest Road from Marple Road to approx. number 64 including the roundabout.
The work is scheduled to start on Monday 8th January taking up to 3 weeks to complete. Working hours are between 9am and 3pm, weather permitting.

To minimise disruption and allow safe working operations to take place it will be necessary to restrict traffic. This will be done by closing the road during working hours with signed diversions in operation.

Lancashire Hill R-A-B, Heaton Norris

We're proposing to carry out resurfacing of the carriageway on Lancashire Hill Roundabout. Work is anticipated to commence approximately Sunday 11th February. It will take up to 3 weeks to complete, between 8pm to 5:30am, weather permitting.

To minimise disruption and allow safe working operations to take place it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements. This will be through various road closures during working hours with signed diversions in operation.

Belmont Way, Heaton Norris

We're proposing to carry out resurfacing of the carriageway on Belmont Way. Work is scheduled to commence on approximately Monday 22nd January. It will take up to 3 weeks to complete, between 8pm and 5:30am, weather permitting.

To minimise disruption and allow safe working operations to take place it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements by using road closures during working hours. Signed diversions will be in operation. Work is to be carried out in conjunction with Lancashire Hill R-A-B.

Torkington Road/A6 London Road, Hazel Grove

We're proposing to carry out resurfacing of the carriageway on Torkington Road from Avondale Avenue to A6 London Road. This is along with resurfacing on A6 London Road from Torkington Road to Church Grove. Work is anticipated to commence approximately Wednesday 31st January. It will take up to 3 weeks to complete, Sunday to Friday between 8pm to 5:30am, weather permitting.

To minimise disruption and allow safe working operations to take place it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements. This will be through temporary prohibition of driving (road closure) on Torkington Road during working hours with signed diversions in operation. Work on the A6 London Road will require lane closures with the use of temporary traffic signals during working hours.

Viaduct Street, Stockport

We're proposing to carry out resurfacing of the carriageway on Viaduct Street. Work is scheduled to commence approximately Friday 19th January. It will take up to 1 week to complete, between 8pm to 5:30am, weather permitting.

To minimise disruption and allow safe working operations to take place it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements. This will be through road closures during working hours with signed diversions in operation.

Sandy Lane, Romiley

We're proposing to carry out resurfacing of the carriageway on Sandy Lane between the Romiley Primary School and Marsden Road.
Work is anticipated to commence approximately Thursday 25th January. It will take up to 2 weeks to complete, between 6:30pm to 5pm, weather permitting.

To minimise disruption and allow safe working operations to take place it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements. This will be through road closures during working hours with signed diversions in operation.

A6 Buxton Road, High Lane

We're proposing to carry out resurfacing of the carriageway on A6 Buxton Road between High Lane Medical Centre and Norwood Avenue. Work is scheduled to commence on approximately Sunday 18th February. It will take up to 2 weeks to complete, between 9am and 3pm, weather permitting.

To minimise disruption and allow safe working operations to take place it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements. This will be though using temporary traffic lights. These will be in operation during working hours.

Chester Road, Hazel Grove

We're proposing to carry out resurfacing of the carriageway on Chester Road between Jacksons Lane and the Poynton Boundary. Work is scheduled to commence on approximately Wednesday 7th March. It will take up to 3 weeks to complete, between 9am and 3pm, weather permitting.

To minimise disruption and allow safe working operations to take place it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements. This will be through a road closure. The road will be closed during working hours.

Albert Road/Turves Road/Cheadle Road/Hulme Hall Road, Cheadle Hulme

We're proposing to carry out resurfacing of the carriageway on the above roads as follows:

  • Albert Road - Turves Road to approximately Carberry Court
  • Turves Road - Albert Road to approximately Acacia Avenue
  • Hulme Hall Road - Turves Road to approximately Oaklands Avenue
  • Cheadle Road - Albert Road to approximately Thornfield Grove

Work is scheduled to commence on approximately Wednesday 21st February. It will take up to 4 weeks to complete, between 6.30pm to 5.30am, weather permitting.

To minimise disruption and allow safe working operations to take place it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements. This will be by using various road closures and temporary traffic lights during working hours with signed diversions in operation.

A6 London Road, Hazel Grove

We're proposing to carry out resurfacing of the carriageway on A6 London Road between Chester Road and Chapel Street. Work is scheduled to commence on approximately Thursday 22nd February. It will take up to 2 weeks to complete, between 7.30pm and 5.30am, weather permitting.

To minimise disruption and allow safe working operations to take place it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements. This will be through lane closures with temporary traffic signals.

Turncroft Lane

We're proposing to carry out resurfacing of the carriageway on Turncroft Lane between New Zealand Road and Victoria Road (near Bruce Lodge care home). Work is anticipated to commence early March taking up to 2 weeks to complete between 9am and 3pm, weather permitting.

To minimise disruption and allow safe working operations to take place it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements. This will be through a road closure during working hours with signed diversions in operation.

Finney Lane

We're proposing to carry out resurfacing of the carriageway on Finney Lane between Heald Green Library to approximately Roseacre Drive. Work is anticipated to commence mid-April taking up to 2 weeks to complete, between 6.30pm and 5.30am, weather permitting.

To minimise disruption and allow safe working operations to take place it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements. This will be through using temporary signals and associated road closures on adjoining roads within the work extents.
