Roadworks, closures and diversions
7. A6, Wellington Road North
Works are taking place on the A6 between the motorway bridge and George’s Road. This is to divert a gas main and enhance the environment with upgraded footpath paving and street lighting.
From Monday 24 June, the gas works will take place for approximately 6 weeks and the paving works for approximately 3 months. The works will mainly take place Monday to Friday with weekend working if needed.
The works have been planned to minimise disruption as much as possible, specifically maintaining two-way traffic and pedestrian access along the A6 at all times. The works have been programmed to take place during quieter months and after major completion of the new Link Road between Travis Brow and the A6.
The works require traffic management to ensure they can be carried out safely and efficiently.
Update 19 August 2019
The gas diversion works are complete.
Lane closures on the A6 will continue to be required until completion of the paving works.
The contractors working on behalf of the council will seek to minimise noise and disruption to local residents and businesses at all times.
