A34 Corridor Improvement Plan

We're delivering a series of measures to enhance walking and cycling connectivity, ease congestion at key locations and unlock growth potential along the A34 corridor between the M60 and A555.

The project includes an improved walk, wheel and cycle route with segregated facilities and safer crossings connecting to the wider and expanding Bee Network. The Bee Network is Greater Manchester’s vision for a more ‘joined up’, sustainable and accessible transport system, including for those walking, wheeling or cycling.

The project also includes a series of junction layout changes to improve traffic flows.

Detailed information about the measures being implemented is on our A34 Corridor Improvement Plan project webpage.

Construction is taking place between 2024 and 2028. The works are being delivered in phases planned and co-ordinated to manage disruption as much as possible. We thank the local community and all users of the A34 corridor in advance for their patience and co-operation.

An indicative delivery programme is shown on our project webpage.

We're carefully planning all works with our design and contractor teams to manage disruption as much as possible. More details about how we're doing so is on our project webpage, and in our A34 Corridor Improvement Plan FAQs.
