1. Overview

To vote in an election or referendum, you must be on the electoral register. Everyone who is eligible to vote is responsible for registering themselves. You can register online below.

Electoral register

The Electoral Register is published on an annual basis, with updates published periodically throughout the year. The 2022 Electoral Register was published on 1 December 2021. The 2023 Electoral Register is expected to be published on 1 December 2022.

There are no monthly updates to the register in October and November due to the Annual Canvass.

Registration deadlines for 2022 to 2023

You must have submitted your registration by 17 April 2023 to be able to vote in the elections on Thursday 4 May 2023.
