REaCH

Man helping an older man stand out of a chair

Reablement is a short-term service that aims to assess and support people in their own homes by promoting independence and preventing skills being lost through illness, injury or disability. The REaCH team works with individuals so they may recover their ability to live independently in their own home; either with training, equipment or ongoing support.

The Reablement team is developing and increasing its capacity and we need positive, dynamic, forward-thinking individuals who can make a difference to the lives of people in Stockport.

You might:

  • support people with their daily living skills, whilst encouraging them to be independent and help themselves for example preparing a meal and taking part in activities
  • provide reassurance, good company and conversation, supporting people to reach their dreams and aspirations and live their best life
  • support people with their medication
  • provide discrete support with personal care

You'll need:

  • a positive attitude and want to work with people who need care and support
  • a warm, caring and calm nature; an open mind and an open heart
  • good moral values you can share with others
  • a friendly sense of humour and enjoy talking to people
  • enthusiasm and motivation
  • desire to help our local people who need that extra support; you can see the person beyond their disability and see the 'can do' rather than the 'can’t do'
  • an ability to work both on your own and as part of a team
