Public Health responsibilities transferred from the NHS to the council in 2013. The service, under the Director of Public Health, works across the council and with key strategic partners to integrate the health and wellbeing agenda into the council's key priorities.
Public Health has a wide remit and is responsible for delivering and / or commissioning a broad range of support and services connected to health and wellbeing. This includes helping people make a lifestyle change:
- stopping smoking
- losing weight
- eating more healthily
- getting more active
- cutting down on alcohol
These services are part of the Healthy Stockport family of services, and can be accessed by contacting the Stockport Triage, Assessment and Referral Team (START).
