Works to improve Heatons Cycle Link, Heaton Mersey Common
Below are notices for closures for footpaths 138, 139, 140 and 170 Stockport. These are being closed in order to undertake works to improve Heaton Mersey Common.

The works will be phased, and are anticipated to start in early 2025.
Footpath 138
We’re proposing to make an order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
We'll temporarily close footpath 138 Stockport between Mersey Road and Burnage Lane while traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the public footpath.
This order is necessary to allow contractors to proceed with works on Heaton Mersey Commons/Heaton Cycle Link.
It's anticipated that the maximum duration of the works will be 6 months.
Alternative routes will be signed on site.
This order is to come into operation on 7 October 2024 and will have effect for 6 months. If works are completed within a shorter period, then this order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.

Footpath 139 and footpath 140
We’re proposing to make an order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
We'll temporarily close:
- footpath 139 Stockport for the entire length
- footpath 140 Stockport from Kingsleigh Road to the junction with footpath 139 Stockport
Traffic signs to that effect will be in place on or near these public footpaths.
This order is necessary to allow contractors to proceed with works on the Heaton Mersey Common/Heatons Cycle Link Scheme.
It's anticipated that the maximum duration of the works will be 6 months.
Alternative routes will be signed on site.
This Order is to come into operation on 12 October 2024 and will have effect for 6 months. If works are completed within a shorter period, then this order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.

Footpath 170 Stockport
October 2024
We’re proposing to make an order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
We'll temporarily close footpath 170 Stockport for its full length from Harwood Road to Hawthorn Road while traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the footpath.
This order is necessary to allow contractors to proceed with works on the Heaton Mersey Common/Heatons Cycle Link Scheme.
It's anticipated that the maximum duration of the works will be 6 months.
Alternative routes will be signed on site.
This order is to come into operation on 7 October 2024 and will have effect for 6 months. If works are completed within a shorter period, then this order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.

We’re proposing to make an order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
We'll temporarily close footpath 170 Stockport between Harcourt Road and Hawthorn Road, Heaton Mersey, while traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the public footpath.
This order is necessary to allow vegetation and tree works, and ensuing major works, to take place.
It's anticipated that the maximum duration of the works will be 6 months.
The route will be closed at different times at various points. Alternative routes will be signed on site.
This order is to come into operation on 12 April 2024 and will have effect for 6 months. If works are completed within a shorter period, then this order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
